I stayed at Hotel Stephan for work, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic location. It was a short walk to the Fischmarkt area and only five minutes from the S Bahn, which conveniently connects directly to the airport. Despite being in a quiet side street, there was no external noise except for the pleasant sound of church bells. The hotel staff were kind enough to let me check in earlier and even provided a hair dryer. The room itself was comfortable and quiet, with a modern bathroom and a very large double bed. I loved the antique design furniture and the characterful ambiance of the hotel. Although I didn't have breakfast, I hear the buffet is excellent with a wide choice for an extra 8 euros. The 24-hour front desk allowed for a late check-in, which was convenient. I highly recommend this hotel for its convenient location, friendly staff, and charming atmosphere.
Can recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located in a nice area just outside the main centre of Hamburg and the Sankt Pauli district. Train connections, or a 30mins- walk will take you to the centre. If you travel by car, there's plenty of parking space and it's easy to reach from the motorway.

The value for money at this hotel was exceptional, with a clean and well-maintained room. The location was perfect, with a quiet neighborhood and easy access to restaurants and transportation. The staff treated us with genuine friendliness and were always helpful.
The breakfast could have been improved with a little more variety.

It is the best value for money in its area, big rooms, nice location on a quiet side street with ample hotel parking. Efficient check in, and probably in a much safer location than many other hotels servicing the altona train station area. It also has a cozy feel and feels like more than a 2 star hotel. I felt it was really good value for the money (except the church bells ringing)
Bed is very hard, rooms are clean but decorated very antique.. The big problem here is the church bells across the street which ring all night long every 15 minutes. Our room faced the front street, on the ground floor (room number 2) and it was very hot in our room so we opened the window for ventilation but then heard the clock all night long- ringing every 15 minutes!! Even with the window closed (it was better) but we could still hear it. The hotel stefan definitely is good value for money, etc but if you stay here- you have to book a room facing away from the church and the street-side, or else you will have trouble sleeping for sure!

I absolutely loved the charming decorations and cozy atmosphere of the hotel. The vintage furniture and tasteful decor gave it a unique character that made me feel right at home. The common areas were well-maintained and provided a comfortable space to relax and unwind. As a senior traveler, I found the hotel to be easily accessible, with no stairs to climb and conveniently placed handrails for extra support.
I would have appreciated more assistance from the staff in planning activities suitable for senior travelers. It would have been helpful if the children working there had provided more detailed information about local attractions and transportation options, specifically tailored to the needs and preferences of older guests.

The rooms at Hotel Stephan were so cozy and inviting! I immediately felt at home with their comfortable furnishings. After a long day of exploring Hamburg, I loved relaxing in the seating area in some of the units. The room decor was elegant and tastefully decorated, making me feel like I was in a fancy hotel. Having a satellite TV in the room was a bonus, and the private bathroom with complimentary toiletries made my stay even more convenient. Plus, the free wireless internet access was a great convenience!
Personally, I found the shower in the private bathroom a bit small. But hey, that's just my opinion, and some might even think it's cozy!
